Astia Angels Announces First Exit with Ciel Medical

Vyaire Medical, the healthcare industry’s largest pure-play “breathing” company, announced it has acquired Ciel Medical, a medical device company focused on solving unmet needs of medical professionals caring for intubated patients.

Ciel Medical has developed innovative technologies that will strengthen Vyaire’s strategy to offer products that can help reduce the incidence of Ventilator Acquired Pneumonia for ventilated patients. Ventilator Acquired Pneumonia costs the U.S. healthcare system billions of dollars annually and Vyaire is committed to reducing overall costs of care while improving patient outcomes.

Vyaire management sees the acquisition of Ciel Medical as a step toward the company’s stated goal of becoming the global leader in the respiratory care market.

Astia Angels invested in Ciel Medical in June 2015, having met Kate Garrett, Co-Founder & CEO and her team via the Astia Community earlier that year. The company applied to Astia and successfully progressed through the Astia Expert Sift upon which the company presented to Astia Angels members and secured investment.

She has been directly involved in the development and commercial launch of six 510(k) products.
