Denver Biz Tech Expo Provides Government Resource Center for Small Business

Expo Will Hosts Influential Tech Leaders for SMB Government Resource Center in a Town Hall Meeting on October 24, 2013

The Denver Biz Tech Expo, which connects small and mid-sized businesses with top technology and cloud providers, has created two innovative forums that will bring local, state and federal resources and experts to the event. The SMB Government Resource Center and Public Town Hall help foster relationships between small businesses and government entities.

“For many businesses, navigating the various government agencies can be confusing, and oftentimes frustrating. To further our mission of connecting owners with enterprise-class vendors we sought to create this unique mix of resources all in one place,” said David DeCamillis, Head of Business Development at Platte River Networks and President of DBTE. “To date there has never been a ‘one-stop-shop’ where people had access to all of the necessary government agencies in one room. This accessibility combined with the caliber of speakers and vendors truly sets the Denver Biz Tech Expo apart.”

The first-of-its-kind SMB Government Resource Center for the Denver area brings together representatives from several key government agencies. On the main expo floor, federal, state and local agencies will have staffed booths providing services to attendees and companies. Participating agencies include the US Small Business Administration, Colorado Secretary of State, Denver Metro Chamber of Commerce, and the Colorado State SBDC.

“We are a nation of innovators, and our entrepreneurs excel at the highest standards. In order for them to remain competitive in our global economy, we must make sure the government works in tandem with their needs,” said Dr. Winslow Sargeant, Chief Counsel for SBA Office of Advocacy.

Growing technological advancement has led to tremendous opportunities for the small business owner and entrepreneur, but challenges continue to arise in how those individuals and small businesses work with the state and federal governments to grow their respective businesses. DBTE’s Public Town Hall panel will create a dialogue directly with the audience asking how they perceive both the federal and state government’s role in helping grow their companies. The panel will also address workforce development, infrastructure investment, R&D and the role innovation plays in local and state economy among other topics.

Town Hall panelists currently include Dr. Winslow Sargeant, Office of Advocacy at the Small Business Administration; Kristin Russell, State of Colorado’s Secretary of Technology; and Kelly Brough, CEO and President of the Denver Metro Chamber of Commerce.

The Town Hall is available to all Expo attendees and will feature a Q & A and discussion with the panel and audience regarding technology, business and government topics.

The 2013 DBTE theme, “Navigating the Cloud”, will provide attendees with up-to-date Cloud solutions. Tickets to the Expo are available online and are $50 each.
